Ping - 2026.03 - Vacation's End

Hello everyone!

My New Year vacation is nearly over. It's time to get back to main work and streams, as well as summarise what was done in two weeks of (nearly) unending coding.

Don't Follow the Butterfly

All chapters and locations are implemented to some extent:

  • Prologue: gameplay is nearly done. We need to clean up the texts and add sound effects. We don't expect significant gameplay changes here.
  • Chapter 1 (This is the chapter from the old demo version): it was poorly ported to INSTEAD a very long time ago by me. During the vacation I ensured it being playable and interacting with other parts of the game. Most of the work left here is adapting the gameplay and correcting texts to resolve discrepancies with the new game.
  • Interlude: gameplay is mostly ready, but the texts will need a lot of work. And of course sound.
  • Chapter 2, Chapter 3 and Epilogue: locations and walkthrough are implemented. There is a lot of work here in nearly every aspect.

A nice little touch: we have finally implemented quest log and notes system.

While the project is still very far from completion, it starts to take shape.

I could and should have done more during the vacation. A lot of time was spent on fixing already known gameplay issues and improving the code quality, as well as implementation of some particularly hard parts. I'm really happy that we can finally play-test the game, this will make further work a lot easier.
